Assessment Informs,
Feedback Transforms
Assessment is the data that informs our instruction, helping students master skills and achieve their learning goals. It gives us, as teachers, a window into where our students are in their learning journey. Through this lens, we provide feedback—using checkpoints that not only support growth but also build students’ capacity to reflect on their own progress. By learning to self-assess, students begin to evaluate their claims, recognize their achievements, and set new goals with confidence, fostering a cycle of continuous learning. Assessment should not be seen as a linear process, but as a cyclical journey that ignites inquiry and sparks motivation to keep moving forward.
